Second Number for Online Selling on Marketplaces
A virtual second number keeps your personal phone private when selling items on OLX, Facebook Marketplace, or Craigslist. DualSMS provides pay-per-number access with instant codes and automatic refunds if none arrive.
· 1 min read
Many sellers prefer a second number for online selling to separate business inquiries from personal calls and texts. This approach limits unwanted follow-up messages after a sale and reduces exposure of your main SIM.
Why separate your phone number
Marketplace buyers often contact you via SMS or calls. Using your everyday number can lead to spam or repeated messages once the item is sold. A dedicated virtual number lets you turn off notifications or discard the line when done.
How virtual numbers work for verification
Some listings or buyer chats require phone confirmation. Services like DualSMS let you rent a number for a single verification. You pay per number, see the code within seconds, and receive an automatic refund if the SMS never arrives. The same system also offers temporary email addresses for sign-ups that do not need a phone.
Steps to get started
- Choose a supported country and service on the DualSMS site.
- Pay for the specific number you need.
- Enter that number in the marketplace form or chat.
- Refresh the page to view the incoming SMS code.
- Complete verification and continue selling.
Practical tips
- Use the number only for the current listing and release it afterward.
- Keep records of which number belongs to which item.
- Check the service list for the marketplace you use before paying.
- Combine the number with a separate email address for full separation.
